Next Year Indonesia's Tourism Conditions Still Challenging

Jakarta - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno hinted that although Indonesia's tourism conditions are still challenging, there are several opportunities that can be utilized for the rise of national tourism.

“Indonesia's tourism conditions have experienced a tremendous contraction. The

number of foreign and domestic tourist arrivals is quite affected. However, we see that after the PSBB or PPKM since 2020, there has been revenge tourism, or a portrait of increased mobility. One of the signs is the increasing number of hotel room occupancy.” he said during a National Webinar entitled Tourism and Creative Economy Industry Recovery Strategies Post-Vaccination, 2021 Review and 2022 Projection.

Sandiaga explained, “Several other unique findings in the current tourism trend are that the age group has changed to become younger, the travel method has also changed, where more and more smaller groups are looking for cleanliness, health, and safety values.

“Real steps that need to be taken to achieve the goal of prospering the community through the revival of tourism are innovation, adaptation, and collaboration. We also wrapped this step with a creative approach, namely GERCEP, GEBER, and GASPOL. We see this as a spirit of togetherness for acceleration in working on all the potential online. For digitization, we want to continue to develop cooperation with tiket.com, we hope that we can continue to advance and develop to be more holistic. We believe that public trust will return if we continue to be disciplined in implementing CHSE, focusing on quality tourism, digital transformation, stimulus and incentives," concluded Sandiaga.
